Nevis Seven Ridges

The Ben Nevis Five Ridges linkup is a classic mountaineering day out taking in the main ridges of the Ben - North East Buttress, Observatory Ridge, Tower Ridge, Ledge Route and Castle Ridge.

Having done this a few times I was keen for an extended challenge, and took an idea from my dad, Roger Wild, for a Seven Ridges linkup. This would add the North East Ridge of Aonach Beag and Pinnacle Ridge of Carn Dearg Meadhonach (Carn Mor Dearg) to the five to give a long day out on Lochaber rock.

I decided to start and finish at the Glen Nevis top carpark, allowing me to make the route a loop.

The route ended up taking 7h6m10s and was about 27km long with 3150m ascent. It was fun to do a new project which - as far as I know - hasn’t been done before. It was a nice alternative, although the best climbing is on the main ‘Ben Nevis five’ and I suspect I will be more keen to repeat the 5 rather than the 7 linkup in future.
